Dr. Theodosia T. Shields has worked for the past twenty-five years in academic libraries. From the early days as a Reference librarian to Dean and Director of Library Services she has worked diligently to accommodate the information needs of students, faculty and staff. She has provided leadership in private and public institutions.
Shields received her B. S. degree from South Carolina State College in Orangeburg, South Caroling. She also earned an MLS from Atlanta University and a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. She previously served seven years as dean of Library Services at the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore. Prior to that, she was University Librarian at Dillard University in New Orleans. Under her leadership at Dillard, the first integrated library system was implemented.
Theodosia loves to travel and spend time with family and friends. She is also very active in her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta.
