Dr. Marvin D. Carr is a national thought leader and policy maker on issues ranging from ensuring equitable access to opportunities for youth to expanding access to quality Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education and training. He was appointed the Sr. Advisor for STEM and Community Engagement at the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) in June 2016 where he leads the agency’s community outreach and STEM education portfolios. Prior to joining IMLS, Dr. Carr was a Sr. Advisor in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and led the STEM and innovation efforts of President Barack Obama's My Brother's Keeper Initiative and the White House Council on Women and Girls. His strong research and analytic skills in the areas of educational psychology, psychometrics, STEM education, and indicators about entry into STEM careers frames his successful and impactful work with expanding equitable access to computational literacy for all Americans, especially those on the margins.
